Ra Avis is an award-winning author, social justice educator, and community builder based in Long Beach, California. Known online as Rarasaur, she writes candidly about grief, incarceration, disability, and the beauty of small works—and has cultivated a loyal, engaged audience around that honest voice. With a proven track record of turning quiet ideas into beloved communities, Ra brings gentle guidance and practical magic to creative projects that need heart, clarity, and momentum.

Most of the time, you just need a little hands-on help from someone who gets it, someone who can help you bridge the gap between theory and your specific, precious practice. &Friends offers collaborative support rooted in conversation, clarity, and skilled community. You’ll start with a free intro session to see if we’re a good fit, then book an Anchor Session with Ra Avis at an hourly rate.The goal of the Anchor Session (or sessions!) is simple: gather just enough context to spot skill gaps, chart a path forward, or connect you with trusted collaborators who care as much as you do. As those collaborators join, they work through Ra and her detailed understanding of your vision-- so nothing gets lost in the fray, and you never have to start from scratch or re-explain the heart of your project.

You’ve probably heard the saying: no one’s a legend in their own backyard, or a hero in their hometown. It’s true: we often overlook the amazing people and resources right around us. &Friends is built on the belief that you’re already surrounded by heroes. You probably already know the people who can help you move toward your dream. Okay, maybe not by name, but they are probably just one or two degrees away.Creative accomplishment is made possible by connection.That's why, here, I tap into my trusted circle of creatives, thinkers, and doers. I look for people with the right skills and the right heart-- that goes for clients and helpers alike. Whether you need a layout artist, a copy editor, a grant reader, or someone to gently walk you through Mailchimp, chances are: the friend you need is already a friend of mine. Just like you.
